The most obvious sign that I am becoming my mother* is my love for and devotion to the dump. Also known as the Greenwich Transfer Station, the dump is the one-stop for all of your disposal needs. I typically hit the dump twice a week to deposit our food scraps (we have municipal composting!! They take so many things - click here for information!) and drop off other things as they collect at home.
Here are some things you can take to the dump - but this is NOT exhaustive (click here and scroll down to check out the list of accepted items and the very useful Waste Wizard):
- Trash
- Single-stream recycling
- Goodwill donations (clothes and shoes)
- Books (you can also peruse and bring books home)
- Mattresses and furniture
- Food scraps and yard waste
- Electronics, light bulbs, and used batteries
- Plastic bags
